“Buying whatever vehicle we like, and driving it wherever and whenever we please without having to think about the consequences for other people, has become normalised and ingrained across our society over decades.”

More excellent research from @ianwalker.

My wife is just back from her Pilates class, which many in the group – despite being fit, healthy, local to the venue and not short of time – drive to. (She cycles there.) It reminds me of this piece I wrote last year.

Stop driving to the gym

Going about our daily lives actively is far better for us than the lifestyle the leisure industry is pushing.

The suburban street design that’s been driving emissions since WWII

I haven't been riding my bike too much lately. I think I got a bit deflated with the poor standard of driving where I live, and it's lost its magic a little. I'm sure it'll return eventually.
In the meantime, I've been #walking everywhere, which is still #ActiveTravel after all, just a lot slower 🙂

And so it goes.

I can't say I'm that surprised that there is now a massive uncertainty in funding Scotland’s planned cycling infrastructure. However, coming just a few days after Transport Scotland confirmed a £1.94 billion investment to dual the remaining sections of the A9 between Perth and Inverness it's kick in the teeth for #ActiveTravel

My ride on the 88 this morning: Kendall near Lechmere smells like chocolate (why?), by the torn out liquor store with the snarky signs it smells like burgers, someone got on or off at every stop (excepting 2).
