Often Mastodon's features work the way they do because it was first populated by people who had been harassed on FB and the Birdsite.
For instance (not sorry), you cannot search Masto for a simple term. Only #hashtags. Say you're having a conversation about iguanas with some of your mutual followers. Anti-iguana trolls will not be able to search for "iguana", find your conversation, and drop into it to say, "Iguana luvers suck!"
But if you are wanting to connect with new iguana fanciers on Mastodon, slipping an #iguanas hashtag somewhere into your posts will allow people to search and find them.
Introduction post: Hello! I'm Alice and I found myself over here as a way of keeping connected with the wonderful community I have on Twitter, should it all go belly-up on there. (Eeek)
I love to laugh, am the president of my husband's fan club, and am captivated by Jesus. I am passionate about healthy church, all people belonging and being seen as Beloved. Ending every day with a dance around the kitchen is a must. You will see me at my happiest when out in nature or with a table full of food.
Hi guys! #introduction
I'm Marissa! (M_jensen on the bird site) A PNW native now living in Budapest and studying film theory. I joined WCT during months of quarantine in 2020 and am so thankful for the friends I made there.
Still barely have a clue how this site works, but I'm glad for the opportunity to stay connected!
@DayleLearnsLife @WhollyHollye It is currently myself, @megara, and @idhrendur. I should add this to the server's About page (https://deacon.social/about/more).
If you see a post that needs to be reported, you can click on the "..." button on the post, and it will give you the option to report it. If you open a report, one of the moderators will deal with it asap!
