infrastructure security guy learning how to social

The (edit:) CURRENT beta version of #Signal is version 7.0.0.
There's a good reason for the round number. This will be the first version where usernames and phone number privacy are available outside of the staging environment.
From this version on, you'll be able to talk to people on Signal without revealing your phone number, and also, you may use Signal without revealing to people who have your number saved that you do.
This is huge.

I'm so delighted we can finally announce this today, proud of the work my team put in, and yet sad to live in a world where we know it's needed: https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2023/04/eff-now-has-tor-onions

@tarasmi @smox @caseynewton Just mentioned that he has it on his website:
@mfowler @timbray @paulg I assumed the ban was more for the dissent in “This is the last straw. I give up” - granted these days Twitter rules are changing so often and on a whim it’s hard to know what’s going on.
@k8em0 Thanks for the tips! I’ve been looking at city/county reps recently and hadn’t thought to also include legislative districts.
How to become a Democratic delegate in 5 steps:
1. Google “find my Legislative district”
2. Go to your State website & search by your address
3. Look up your Legislative District’s (LD) website to find out how to join
4. Attend monthly LD meetings
5. Run for Delegate per LD or be appointed like me when not enough people do 1-4
What's a good sci-fi *utopian* tv show I haven't watch yet?  ✨
So, now that I'm giving in-person talks again, what conferences should I go to? Obviously, I will go do talks where I'm invited, but suggestions for conferences to submit talks to are also welcome. I am more likely to finish my research if I have promised to do a talk about it.
This is really quite fascinating. There is exactly one ISP that is blocking mail from the mail server I run, which is used to deliver mail for infosec.exchange - t-online.de. It annoys me to no end that I see people try to subscribe to infosec.exchange and the confirmation emails are rejected. So, I contacted their postmaster, and to their credit, they got back to me very quickly, but they are basically saying "yeah, you need to use one of the big mail providers if you want to send mail to t-online subscribers".... Ok then. My apologies to any t-online subscribers (who probably can't see this anyhow), but you'll apparently need to use a different email account to register.
@tinker The only reason I found a silly picture that sort of matches my username was to get rid of that empty head 😂
