A Brief History of Kids Today Have It Easy
🧵
"Cooking itself is the first cousin to magic, so it's not surprising that a spell resembles a recipe."
Ursula Vernor, Castle Hangnail, chapter 7.

I'm on a long chat with a #techSupport agent. It becomes clear the agent has mixed up his chats - he's sending me responses meant for somebody else. That's a big no-no, and the agent knows it.
"Wrong person!!! I am so sorry!"
I love situations like this.
I have begun a new #spiritual practice.
I look for every opportunity to pronounce #forgiveness .
So in this support chat, I say: "You are forgiven." I close the chat with: "You are completely forgiven."
I used to work as a front line #helpDesk person. Let me tell you: there's very little forgiveness on offer in that role.
When I say, "You are forgiven", I am not just talking about this one interaction in question. Although I am talking about that too.
I mean, in the ultimate and eternal sense, this agent is forgiven. Totally and finally and completely forgiven.
I'm learning that this forgiveness is true for me. The more I learn that's true for me, the more I become attuned to other people's "screwups". Not to berate them. Not to call them out. But because when they recognize they've gotten it wrong, I can assure them, sometimes in a small and oblique way, that God has made things right.
This #Lent I would challenge you to be generous with forgiveness.
2 Cor 5:19
God was in Christ reconciling the world to himself, no longer counting people's sins against them. And he gave us this wonderful message of reconciliation.
John 20:22-23
Then Jesus breathed on them and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive anyone’s sins, they are forgiven. If you do not forgive them, they are not forgiven."

Gruber: ★ Tweetbot and Twitterrific Face the Cliff

There is something noble about two longtime rivals — competitors, yes, but with nothing but deep respect and camaraderie for each other — facing this terrible cliff together, with dignity and grace, considering their users first, as ever.
The thing I find most suspicious/fishy/smelly about all the current hype around Stable Diffusion and ChatGPT is that it follows, as night follows day, about six months after the bottom dropped out of the cryptocurrency scam bubble.
This is not a coincidence.
Hucksters are chasing the sweet VC/private equity money that has been flushed out of crypto, and AI is the new hotness all of a sudden.
If you're thinking about investing now? Don't: it's too late and you'll be the target of a grift.
ICYMI, the world's largest hosting company GoDaddy disclosed to the SEC this week that a multi-year security compromise allowed attackers to steal company source code, customer and employee login credentials, and install malware that redirected customer websites to malicious sites.
What most coverage of this disclosure has overlooked is the reason for these repeated compromises: Successful voice phishing attacks against employees, where they pretend to be someone from IT, target new hires, and try to get them to log in at a phishing site that mimics the company's real employee portal.
After the toxic waste exploration in #Ohio I'm left wondering what #crops are grown in that area, and whether they will be tested this coming year.
