Oh, to be able to return to the not-so-distant past when the internet was new and free, where comment threads were meetings of the finest minds, and bloggers held forth on the great dialogues of the age wearing red capes and goggles and blogged from high-altitude balloons (well, @pluralistic did).

"Things were better before the Structuring and the Levels."

I just played "Idle - The Wealth Race"!

I worked hard and earned £653,261, but The Rich did literally nothing and ended with £17,958,564 (~27x more).

Input on the English language:

In Danish we have a term called the "not test”, and we sometimes say about a political view, that it does not pass the not test, if no one would take the opposite view.

For instance, if a politician campaigns on wanting children to live happy lives, we may say, “it does not pass the not test", because no candidate is running on NOT wanting children to live happy lives.

Is there an established English term for such a "not test”?

The British public refuse to accept that it's cheaper to provide welfare than withdraw it. Fewer benefits result in increased crime and poorer public health, requiring increased resources for the police and NHS. Prevention is cheaper than the cure, it's that fucking simple.

Today's a sad day for #WelshPolitics.

I don't think #VaughanGething is a bad man, but he has shown himself to be a fool who, when confronted by his mistakes, doubles down rather than correcting them.

He's upset his MS's; He's upset his ministers; He's upset his predecessor by shelving/rolling back his policies;
and he's upset Plaid Cymru, who's support he required to govern.

Hopefully he can act as an example of what not to do and how not to behave.

Except for the fact that they require a license from the state to operate, a loan from a major financial institution to purchase, insurance to shield users from the cost of their harms, and can be used to collect and share driver data without their full consent, cars represent freedom, baby!

Automakers Are Sharing Consumers’ Driving Behavior With Insurance Companies

LexisNexis, which generates consumer risk profiles for the insurers, knew about every trip G.M. drivers had taken in their cars, including when they sped, braked too hard or accelerated rapidly.

I always hear people/opposition parties saying that the Welsh Government is running the NHS badly. I agree things are very bad but nobody ever says exactly what they're doing wrong or what should be done differently; they just point fingers.

If anybody can tell me what policy decisions have caused this mess and how Scotland, England and NI are managing their services differently/better, I'd love to be better informed.

I'm not interested in personal character attacks, just policy.
