We’ve just published an update about this Mastodon trial which has been running for the last 6 months – you can read it here: https://www.bbc.co.uk/rd/blog/2024-02-extending-our-mastodon-social-media-trial
We are going to continue our trial here for at least another six months while we share our findings internally and seek more engagement from other BBC teams. We are also planning to start researching ways to publish more BBC content using ActivityPub.
Been sobbing all afternoon. The guy who received my grandmas lungs wrote us a letter.
It reads:
“My name is Dan and I am contacting you to let you know that I am the recipient of your loved ones lungs, I had pulmonary fibrosis and was down to 10% lung capacity and on 20 liters of oxygen before getting my second lease on life thanks to your kindness and generosity. I had my life saving transplant on June the 13th and came home 9 days later. I am 66 years old, married, have 3 children and 10 grandchildren. I love to take walks and work in my yard. I live in Missouri and recently retired on March 1st of this year due to my inability to breathe. I was homefound and on oxygen 24/7 And now I am able to breathe on my own once again. Words cannot express the deep appreciation that your loved one and you have given me with a second chance at life. I’m so sorry for your loss, please know how much your loved one and god have blessed me and my family. May God continue to bless you and your family with much peace and contentment in your life, now and always. Thank you again, so much, for giving me another chance at life.“
The best [citation needed] ever.
This advice from “Design for Spatial Input” is fascinating and seems like it informs a lot of visionOS’s use of shape and depth.
You shouldn’t make the EDGES of your interface too visually interesting, because people will tend to look at those edges. They’re too distracting.
The system needs you to look more at the middle of a button/element to confirm gaze. So you need round shapes and big padding until the technology improves.
Hey all, It's been an amazing run thanks to all of you. Eight years ago, I posted in the Apple subreddit [about a Reddit app I was looking for...
