At this point when someone links their X or Substack account what I'm reading is "I am politically apathetic, if not worse".
ProseMirror's code no longer lives on GitHub. Next up (soon): CodeMirror.

#OtD 1 Apr 1982 oil company Exxon made a private report on CO2. It showed burning fossil fuels would cause global warming which may be irreversible and could be detectable by 1995. They then spent $31m to spread false propaganda claiming the opposite https://stories.workingclasshistory.com/article/8039/exxon-greenhouse-effect-report

“Researchers measured autistic people against neurotypical expectations and called every difference a deficit. They tested empathy by measuring in-group preference and missed commitment to universal fairness. They measured creativity by counting the number of ideas and missed originality. They saw moral consistency and called it rigidity. They saw deep engagement and called it rigidity. They saw sensory richness and called it disorder.”

What the World Got Wrong About Autistic People

Keeping money from going to the Harry Potter franchise isn’t just a symbolic gesture. It’s about preventing real harm to real people.

I'm looking for someone to create some svg pictures for me. Where on the internet could I go to look at portfolios of vector art illustrators? (Actual illustrators, not people who prompt computers to generate stuff.)
If someone tried to insulate their wiring with aluminium foil and burns their house down, that probably would not be reported as 'insulating agent goes rogue', but as 'dumbass uses unsuitable tool for the job'. Would be good if we could also use that framing of responsibility for AI nonsense. There's no agency in these 'agents'.

See normally when an algorithm requires The Entire Global Supply Of Ram, a software engineer would consider that not a good algorithm, and would try and make a better one instead of optimising the entire planet for paperclip manufacturing.

Unfortunately we accidentally gave a bad software engineer too much money

Now that I have most of the stuff that I need working I can say that Forgejo is a joy to work with. It supports everything I've needed so far, and page loads are *fast* compared to what we've gotten used to from GitHub. Also the people in the Matrix channel have been super helpful.
