My ideal development setup is a laptop and a camping chair in the forest so I'm skeptical about developer tools that require constant cloud access or waste my battery.
Apparently DHL will now 'deliver' packages in their new app-only package dropbox things, and if you're unable or unwilling to install their app, well, I guess you're not getting that package. Often seems companies have such a hard-on for automation that usability is just swept under the rug.

Local #Seattle artist Light Guerrilla projected “TAX THE RICH” on the side of Mark #Zuckerberg 's stupid boat while it was docked in Lake Union. The boat is now anchored in the middle of Elliott Bay several miles away.

From LB: "In ten days last month, the Wikimedia Foundation fired the longtime lead developer of MediaWiki and disbanded the team whose entire job was to listen to volunteers. Most of the people they fired were union organizers. Wikipedia’s editors are now threatening to strike....

The Foundation has spent twenty years telling donors it is not like other tech companies. The union drive is the moment when that claim either becomes true or admits it was always marketing." https://medium.com/@jakeorlowitz/wikipedia-is-doing-the-capitalist-thing-56a393232943

Big Tech’s Anti-Labor Playbook Has Come for Wikipedia

Extremely chuffed to realize that a feature that I thought was going to be messy and complex to implement can be built in three lines on top of a feature I already built. Validates the design AND saves me time.
Has AI solved climate breakdown yet? Must have, by now. I probably just missed the announcement.

The author of @allaboutberlin on how Google AI Overviews are killing independent web publishing, citing a 70% drop in traffic after seven years of steady growth. His work trains the model. The model is replacing his site. There is no credit, clicks, or revenue. This is what the "enshittification" of the open web looks like in practice.

Hard to imagine moving to Berlin without stumbling upon his guides at some point.

Cool how Stripe's little CRUD interface dashboard runs at about 2 frames per seconds while making my whole laptop heat up. I'm sure someone got a promotion for this tour de force of web programming.
Auto-closing issues for inactivity when *you*, the maintainers, are the ones that should be active is just embarrassing. Sure, define an 'information needed' tag and auto-close if the reporter doesn't come back. But when someone took the time to report an actionable issue, that's a really valuable thing they did for you, and you should probably not give them the finger by ignoring their contribution and then throwing it in the bin.

Amnesty International published a detailed report (13 June 2025) using satellite imagery confirming the total razing of #Khuza'a. Their analysis shows the town (pop. ~11,000) was entirely reduced to rubble, with unarmored excavators operating without combat threat, indicating deliberate demolition outside active combat. An Israeli military commander, Lt. Col Dor Yoetz, declared on 25 May 2025: "Khirbat Ikhza'a no longer exists." This independently corroborates HRF's claims about the destruction. https://www.amnesty.org/en/latest/news/2025/06/satellite-imagery-reveals-total-razing-of-khuzaa-in-may-2025-in-further-evidence-of-israels-wanton-destruction-and-genocide-in-gaza/

Total razing of Khuza’a further evidence of Israel’s genocide in Gaza

Amnesty International’s analysis of satellite imagery and verification of video footage reveals how Israeli forces completely razed what remained of the town of Khuza’a in the southern occupied Gaza Strip over the course of two weeks in May 2025.
