Despite less than ideal panel location, a not so sunny summer, increased AC, EV charging, & no longer obsessively switching everything off, I imported 35% less, & exported 10x more kW to the grid than over summer 24. I'm saving heaps, living more comfortably, reducing grid coal, & slashing my carbon footprint. Payback should be ~4 years.

I highly recommend #solar if you can afford the upfront $$ & are allowed to install. 6kW in Australia costs ~$AU5-6000. Sometimes deals are available.

Another fantastic example of the OYOC… Owning Your Own Cloud. @mkennedy would approve. https://www.fastmail.com/blog/why-we-use-our-own-hardware/

@ironicbadger Please please consider doing a #nix Darwin video of your setup. That would be so great.

Some of us are aware that -40° Celsius is also -40° Fahrenheit. It's the only point where the two scales agree.

But did you know there are palindrome temperatures and they're very useful also!

16° Celsius = 61° Fahrenheit
28° Celsius = 82° Fahrenheit

GREAT change is approaching. NIST will standardise prohibition of requirement of composing passwords from various character styles, and requirement for periodic password changes. These are harmful and obsolete rules. Now they will be treated as a cybersecurity weakness https://pages.nist.gov/800-63-4/sp800-63b.html

Setting up a new iPhone is immensely more pleasant now thanks to mirroring.

@talkpython I’m doing your 100 Days of Web course… because I have to work during your cruise. Sad face.

Know that the course’s Python Appendix doesn’t seem to work. Maybe it was a 2.x version and put on ice? Thanks!

@pythonbynight @mkennedy I’m now really happy with Beanie/Mongo, thanks for the warning about migrations.

Do you prefer FastAPI over the alternatives? Use it in production?

Thanks!
