Just before I left Slack, we welcomed a few new hires and I gave a talk on how to write on the team without sounding like an asshole to our readers.

I have been meaning to publish this for over a year, and just finished it up today, here it is: https://a.wholelottanothing.org/2022/12/07/how-to-be-a-writer-on-a-marketing-team-without-sounding-like-a-jerk/

If you're hesitating to watch it because you think Harry & Meghan will be whinging about the royal family, don't worry. It's more about media harassment and racism.

My conclusion: If the press can tell their stories, Harry & Meghan have the right to tell THEIR story & truth too, no matter how wealthy and privileged they are. Harassment is never ok.

Whoa. Apple is finally enabling end-to-end encryption for iCloud, meaning any data you back up with iCloud will only be legible on your devices — when enabled, not even Apple can read your data. A huge step forward. https://www.wired.com/story/apple-end-to-end-encryption-icloud-backups/

The company will also soon support the use of physical authentication keys with Apple ID, and is adding contact verification for iMessage in 2023.

One of my favorite Twitter accounts was always Matthew Christopher's Abandoned America. Matthew closed up shop on Twitter and moved to Mastodon as @AbandonedAmerica. You should follow and support his work not only because we need more mid-size original content accounts here, but because his photos are FANTASTIC.

Nothing personal but if all your posts are just links to Twitter maybe just stay on Twitter?
