Plasma is KDE's desktop environment. Simple by default, powerful when needed.
I like both 👍 the latest Gnome is already 47 (!). Gnome's nowadays the default desktop for example on Ubuntu, Debian, Fedora and TAILS.
Plasma (KDE) is of more traditional placement and style and speaks nicely to those accustomed of the original Windows style. Microsoft actually took much things to their DE from KDE Plasma (not the other way around) :-)
