This is one of those mornings. I want something to eat, but not sure what.
Sorry MAGA, I believe gay rights are human rights. Not sorry. I'm not gay myself, but I stand in solidarity with them. There are things I may not understand about being transgender, but no one asked me to. That the trump regime targets them explicitly, one of the most vulnerable communities, is bullshit.

"Nor will you see reporting on the fact that Israel has destroyed the vast majority of mosques and olive trees in Gaza.
According to F. Fayyad, the head of the Palestinian Olive Council,Gaza’s olive sector is “almost completely destroyed.”
“There is no olive season this year,” Fayyad told Drop Site News.“We estimate that nearly one million of Gaza’s 1.1 million olive trees hv been destroyed.”

Wall of Carnage Gazans, Olive Trees and Mosques

In the small town of Berkeley Springs, West Virginia, where I live, during Israel’s destruction of the Gaza Strip, a Democratic Party activist hung a flag of the state of Israel across the way from the only grocery store in town -- so that almost every member of the community would see it.

In spring 2023, I stepped outside just minutes after the lawn had been sprayed and saw a beautiful American robin pulling worms from the same grass.
In that moment, I felt an overwhelming sense of guilt. That afternoon, I canceled the lawn service. Since then — and for as long as I own this property-he will be safe in my yard.

The Biden administration committed $400 million to farmers, irrigation districts, agricultural associations, and tribes in 2024 for drought relief. Trump blocked those funds and now no one knows what happened to the money from USDA.

Did the USDA just forget about $400M in drought aid for farmers?

More than a year later, not a dollar has been spent — and no one knows what happened to the money.

Nurul Amin Shah Alam was a Rohingya refugee from Burma.
He had been granted refugee status by the US government.
Blind and speaking no English, in February 2025 he accidentally wandered into a neighbor's yard.
She called the police, who tasered him, beat him up, and arrested him.
After being held in jail for over a year, he was finally released on bail after agreeing to plead guilty to trespassing and possessing a weapon (a curtain rod he used as a walking stick).

Blind refugee abandoned by Border Patrol is dead

Nurul Amin Shah Alam, a Rohingya refugee from Burma, was nearly blind and spoke no English. He was dropped off by agents in Buffalo on the other side of town from his home. His family was not notified of his release. Police are investigating.

"...After taking custody of Shah Alam, Border Patrol agents dropped him off at a Tim Hortons on Niagara Street in the Black Rock neighborhood, Macaluso said, shortly after 8 p.m. Shah Alam and his family live in the Broadway-Fillmore neighborhood on the East Side, according to Fazal.... Instead, Macaluso and Shah Alam’s family spent Friday through Sunday searching for him. Macaluso opened a missing persons case with Buffalo police on Sunday, he said.

As Investigative Post reported Tuesday, Special Victims Unit detective Richard Hy closed the case for several hours Monday in the mistaken belief Shah Alam was in custody at ICE’s detention facility in Batavia. The case was subsequently reopened."

When the government cut off benefits to food insecure people I practically had to wait in line to fill the shelves of our population 750 town's little free pantry. It felt like we all understood the assignment and it warmed my heart.
I realize that our pocketbooks are all impacted by higher prices and that we can only do what we can do.
Fortunately for us we are old and don't eat much. It isn't too hard to chuck extra stuff in our shopping cart.
Today Summer and I filled the shelves.
It is a good feeling to share.
Because it's the end of the month we also look at our budget to see what might be left for charity. Summer has been advocating for animal supporting organizations the past couple of months but we all decided to donate to the Humboldt Breast Health Project this month. It will be her turn to pick again next month.
A little help for our friends.

You’ll know who is really served by this government when you see who gets the tariff refunds.
