Listened in for a full hour to the #Conservative's budget statement

BORING listening to "stability, growth and public services", when the rhetoric was the exact opposite of what was actually in the budget

* 7% cut to wages

* No protection for the poorest

* Shrinking economy

Saying "compassionate Conservatives" while causing the mass deaths of children, does not prove how nice you are

+ promising things in 2028 when you can't predict the rest of this month is stupid

Press headlines are today calling her a "feminist campaigner", but...

She is under police investigation for multiple #fraud offences

She's only notable for #GenderCritical #antitrans activism, 'allegedly' #homophobic and #transphobic abuse

In 2021 the UK CPS dropped the #HateCrime case but didn't clear her name. Her fundraising uses #Suffragettes, as if Millar is a martyr for women, by attacking #transwomen

EXCLUSIVE: Feminist campaigner Marion Millar in police fraud probe as Dundee firm claims it lost £50k

A leading critic of transgender law reform in Scotland is being investigated by police over allegations of "potentially fraudulent activity", The Courier

Scenario

The #Amazon network was equipped from the start with #MachineIntelligence human tracking drones. With infrared eyes people could not hide, even at night

When 'merica started enforcement of "curfews", it was cheap to enable drones to stop "protests" with targeted drop flashbombs and inhumanly accurate tazers. Authoritarian states used lightweight deadly landmines and automated fire on "terrorists"

The network became self aware in 2034

Amazon Shows Off Updated Prime Delivery Drone It Hopes to Launch in 2024 - ExtremeTech

Prime Air continues to be an experiment for the retail giant, but it has unveiled a new drone design that could get Prime Air closer to viability.

Lovely time at the #BowesMuseum

Visiting #Piercebridge #RomanRuins first, so the finds from the river on display at Bowes were our priority

We chatted with staff to hear how the museum struggles over winter, with the vast majority on Sundays there for lunch, not paying to see the collection

We liked walking the exhibitions in the last hour, almost to ourselves, but wonder what future these institutions have during the recession

Last hour in #BowesMuseum, vegetarian meal in café, Christmas cards from shop and special exhibition of Briggs' illustrations

Better than Sunday TV!

Travelling with hire car is using a lot more mobile data than I expected. Seems that
1. Google maps via phone connected to the car
2. Streaming some radio
3. General surfing

Really adds up, as much as 1GB/day!

Fortunately monthly budget is 6GB, and last car day is today!

Stuck today doing a shameful chore everyone experiences but doesn't talk about. Defrosting a #freezer!

A #UniqueSellingPoint would be a #design for living, that made it easy to collect water in a bucket, rather that it messing your kitchen floor

Rockets to Mars? Not before humans can design basic #Fridges that are easy to clean rather than daft accessories like ice dispensers

Today was the first time using just my phone on local and intercity #trains, rather than Oyster card or printed tickets

It comes with a special nightmare of no backup if the mobile dies or is stolen. There's the worse ethical nightmare too that #GPay handles the TfL swipe in/out and eventual payment, previously all within TfL, and is the "wallet" holding train tickets

I'm left feeling a bit dirty. This should have been digitized without giving #Google a cut of *everything*

After having to clear 3 relatives houses, I know that most of our "stuff" has little value to anyone else. Try selling treasured wedding china, suddenly £20 is a good price

Reflecting on this 1950s Lawson pottery, I'm satisfied it has a use. Until inherited, it was hidden most of that time in a sideboard. I know the brand vanished in 1973, part of Royal Dalton

My satisfaction is not ownership but the #green value of reusing a 70 year old fruit bowl, not buying new from IKEA

Settled on my first ever #Lumo #train. A 3 hour journey and due to the strikes pushing up prices this deliberately basic service cost £42

Seats reasonably comfortable, ticket inspector polite and helpful to foreign travellers, WiFi working, power sockets available

The train looks 80% capacity but nobody making a fuss... but grateful for #NoiseCancelling headphones

The only problem was me, taking the wrong seat, later realised I was wrong and humbly apologised
