15 May 1942 | The renovation work in the crematorium at Auschwitz I has been completed.

The underground flue duct between the furnaces and the chimney has been repaired; walls and vaulting have been constructed above the room housing the engine next to the chimney; a fan connected to it has been installed to assist the draft of the furnaces.

Additionally, repairs have been carried out on one of the corpse-loading trolleys.

14 May 1908 | A Czech Jewish woman, Emilie Lowositzová, was born in Jihlava.

She was deported to Auschwitz from Theresienstadt Ghetto on 23 October 1944. She did not survive.

14 May 1944 | The main phase of the deportation of Hungarian Jews began. Between May 14 & July 9 in 142 trains some 420,000 people were deported to the German camp #Auschwitz. Some 330,000 of them were murdered immediately in gas chambers.

19 April 1926 | A Dutch Jew, Joseph Olman, was born in Rotterdam.

In February 1944 he was deported to Auschwitz with his parents (in the picture): Eliazar Israel and Cornelia. They were murdered in a gas chamber.

She was deported to Auschwitz from Theresienstadt ghetto on 26 January 1943. She did not survive.

4 March 1911 | A Polish woman, Kazimiera Stefanyszyn, was born in Białystok.

In Auschwitz from 19 January 1943.
