Looking for fellow aspiring polyglots and language lovers. If you have a language blog, or track your learning progress somehow, please reach out :).

I like reading, nature, and using my brain. I don't like AI, big tech, and Duolingo.

I created a small language app called Frazely, and that’s what I mostly use for my own learning. Currently focusing on Arabic and Portuguese.

Currently learningPersian, Norwegian, Portuguese, Arabic

I wanted to do the right thing. My #language learning app does NOT use AI (because its error-prone, but also because of all its negative impact on the society and the #climate ). I pay human teachers and voice actors for their work.

I have asked my users for feedback, because I'd like to keep improving the app for them. Got two answers suggesting I use AI to add more languages...

This just makes me so sad.

Language plateaus are killing all my progress over and over again 😔 just took a look at my #Persian reviews and I forgot absolutely everything 😓 Those of you who manage to stay consistent, how do you do it??
Even #Mastodon official app is now supporting only iOS 17.0 or higher. Thank you for making my perfectly functioning phone obsolete :(
This is not what the #climate needs.
Thank you all for your amazing support and all the boosts! You wholesome people have absolutely exceeded my expectations! :) It is a real lifeline for my little project. Now I just hope it's up to the expectations! ;)
Thank you, thank you, thank you!

I was about to try Busuu, but then I scrolled down their homepage.
For a moment my dumb ass thought it was a new dialect and I got excited :D But then I saw it's a #Spanish course.
For the sake of all their learners, I really hope the screenshot is fake, and the marketing intern simply didn't speak a word of Spanish... 300+ employees and no one noticed?

Bengali alphabet might be the coolest I've ever seen

I've been wanting to learn Bengali for some time now. I watched a documentary where it was spoken, and I fell in love with its sound. Now I finally sat down ...

Just started learning #Bengali, and I'm so excited! Nothing makes me happier than diving into a completely new alphabet and sounds. Thank goodness there are over 7000 languages - enough to give me those moments of joy for the rest of my life ;).

Some thoughts about language immersion:

Wish I could learn Modern Standard #Arabic through immersion, but all I've found were cartoons. I'll definitely go for TV series as my main learning material when learning a dialect though.

That one time when I accidentally learned a language

I'm currently learning Arabic and Persian, and the progress is just so excruciatingly slow. It makes my mind wander back to the good old times when I was mos...

Lass deinen Prota dein akt. Werk vorstellen.

Is anyone learning #Persian and willing to give me an advice? I'm preparing a Persian course based on easy stories. I'd like to offer both written and colloquial Persian, because it's just so hard to find any materials for learning colloquial Farsi. I'm just not sure what's the best approach. Would you like to read/hear the story in both versions? Or only hear the colloquial and read the written? Should those be two separate books? Or would you rather see it side by side?
Thanks! :)
