Welcome to the world's eighth s̶h̶i̶t̶s̶h̶o̶w̶, er... wave of SARS2

November 9th, 2022 Dear Friends, As ever, the news tumbles out thick and fast, and often contradictorily. On October 27th, Mark Butler MP, the Health Minister, said a summer spike was "unlikely". Yesterday, Professor Paul Kelly, the Federal CMO, said we were heading into a new wave fuelled by Omicron variants and today, Dr Brett Sutton, the Victorian CHO, also said we were heading into a new wave before Christmas. Frankly, you didn't have to be Nostradamus to predict that the world's eighth wave would also affect Australia. And, by the way, Professor Kelly said we are now "collectively" trying to "slow the spread of the virus". I am a bear of little brain. I am confused. Are we trying to get infected or not get infected now? Do we still want "rich hybrid immunity", or was that October's strategy? Of course, it's all about "personal responsibility" now that the government has decided to remove itself from the public health equation, leaving you with little information or guidance as to what you can do to protect yourself and your loved ones against a very unpleasant disease.
