In retaliation for players’ protesting the staff’s combative approach to their new community responsibilities, staff are now gouging contributors’ names out of the list of volunteers who built that community - even as they continue to use the art, tools, and translations those volunteers created. Hundreds of hours of work that people gave to this project, and their names erased from its records.

In recent weeks, staff members have treated the volunteer contributors - most of them paying customers! with open hostility, and addressed the community so rudely that the staff consistently break their own CG on how to participate in the chats. When players have pointed that out, they’ve been muted and even banned. I've had to start a written list of my comrades who've disappeared from the chats for what the staff have named as a lack of "respect".

I was a moderator in #Habitica for five years, until the staff axed the mod team this winter, supposedly to take moderation in house. They didn’t let us say goodbye, and forbade the community to ask what had happened or speak about our disappearance.

I don't know when in those years the staff diverged from the community, deciding they no longer cared to provide a supportive and safe environment, but it's clear they don't share or promote those values. I barely recognize the place now. [1/4]
