Our Open Call Fresh Perspectives is open until 25 August 2026, 16:00 CEST 🚀 This call supports cross-sector collaboration projects that develop new perspectives on social challenges like climate, housing, polarisation, migration or inequality of opportunity.

One example is Sculpting Our Food Service by Another Provision, in collaboration with food rights organisation Public Food. Through co-design workshops, they investigate what people in the neighbourhood concretely need when it comes to food services. From those insights, they are developing an interaction format for local dialogue: a flexible design that can take the shape of an installation for public gatherings and shared meals, a poster campaign, or a radio and sound component 🍽️

The prototype was recently tested during The Kitchen Table, an event at community canteen Mensa Mensa in Rotterdam-Zuid, where 78 neighbours with dozens of different backgrounds came together around food. People shared what food means to them: family recipes, memories tied to tastes and smells, and honest reflections on what makes eating out feel accessible and welcoming.

In a second phase, the format will be produced and rolled out across different neighbourhoods and contexts to involve more communities and drive lasting change in local food services 💡

By deploying a specialized security stack directly at the network edge, they can monitor device behavior and validate control commands in real-time. This "explainable" security model ensures that sensitive energy assets, like solar inverters and EV chargers, operate safely without relying on central servers that may be miles away. This project provides a vital blueprint for the thousands of energy communities emerging across Europe.
