What's the best laptop Apple ever made? For me, the 11" Air. Let me know, then also hear what @ActionRetro, @thisdoesnotcomp, @mrmacintosh, Computer Clan, @mac84tv, and @branchus had to say this #MARCHintosh! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JpPIrmZB828

Hi #fediverse. We need to talk about something.

While talking to a colleague about how I recently learned most people have never sat on a cow it came up that she has never sat on a horse. Like, not even once during childhood.

Another colleague admitted they also have never sat on a horse.

My hypothesis is that most people have at one point in their life sat on a horse.

Have you sat on a horse?

What I discovered by letting my normie relatives use my laptop is that if you use Linux with i3 window manager you don't need a screen locker at all.

I think one of the funniest things is how frontier labs spout how AI is writing their code, but the reality is that the products they ship are buggy, resource hungry messes. It's kind of the worst advertisement ever for both their products and their worldview.
I can't stop thinking about the LLM-generated compiler that passes all the unit tests but emits inner loops that benchmark over 150,000x slower than a gcc debug build. I couldn't possibly have intentionally come up with such a funny demonstration of the point of genuine expertise https://harshanu.space/en/tech/ccc-vs-gcc/

Tim Cook sold Apple's soul

Apple used to stand for something. Now Tim Cook gifts golden statues to Trump, removes apps at the administration's request, and cozies up to accused rapists at White House screenings. The company I once admired has become morally bankrupt, but leaving the ecosystem feels almost impossible.

Few people know that you can continue to use curl when your DNS is broken. Just add

โ€”resolve host:port:ip-address

to your command line*.

*) Yes, that about all DNS does for you. Prettty lame, right?๐Ÿ’๐Ÿปโ€โ™‚๏ธ
