@MikeHar94962844 @daisy 😂 this is true - my stuff is almost always edible. Although I can't promise that there wasn't a little real-life inspiration there somewhere...
@daisy thank you - it really was delicious! And if it had been for a D&D game or something it would've been perfect, but unfortunately it was for a plain old cards night ... Luckily my friends are used to me producing random dishes and saying, "look, I tried, and it tastes good, so..."
@theotherbrook I would like to say I've now learned my lesson (I, too, usually favour rustic style), but the odds are against it. I'm sure I'll try again, but I might leave this particular one till next Halloween for a repeat ...

@salarua I KNEW I shouldn't have kept that accursed tome in with the Ottolenghi books. No good could come of it ... (Although the hummus came out extra toothy)

And yes - I made it for the weekly cards night (super rock-'n'-roll), and it was perfect for sharing. Just as long as no one looked too closely at it.

I can make bread. I'm even quite *good" at making bread. But it appears that making bread pretty is not in my skillset. I have instead created a monstrosity that will likely come alive tonight and eat next door's dog. Or a coral reef, like the crown of thorns starfish I was apparently channelling.

It did taste really good, though. Tapenade and pesto and ALL the cheese.

@Mallulady I'm glad you liked the pic! It really is gorgeous here
@MikeHar94962844 no, I was just using it to steady myself, so just a yelp of surprise, not pain!
