Thank you everyone who checked out the new #unstream features yesterday! It was really helpful for pressure-testing the flows. I have more work to do but I'm glad folks seem to be excited about it
For now I'm focused on improving the polish and accuracy of the flows for artists. I also think I'm going to de-paywall features and switch to free/donationware model, at least for a while
At the simplest, it makes for a free linktree alternative focused on the best places to directly support you as an artist, which in turn is integrated into Unstream search/app/extensions. Plus a lot of bigger things can start to form around this foundation, and that has me very excited

The current state of the web assumes that the reader is an adversary to be trapped and monetized.
When a news website forces you through three dismissive actions just to read a headline, they are burning your cognitive budget before delivering any value. You are greeted by a cookie banner taking up the bottom 30% of your screen, a "Subscribe!" modal dead center, an autoplaying video pinned to the corner and a prompt begging to send you push notifications.

That is very interesting! Personally, I think that individual patronage can drive to dangerous dynamics on the artists and I am more for a "community" of artists patronage.

I've been dying to see this vision take off. decentralized Spotify where the music comes from artists' websites and some version of your friends' boosts replace their algorithm. then maybe we can support them via a monthly donation that gets automatically and directly paid to them based on the percentage of our time we spend with their work. #PublicPatron
