Why is it so hard to get rid of things? #indieweb

26W13. Letting go

The books i’ve never even considered reading. The guitars i’ve barely touched these past few years. The vintage computers i’ve never restored. The fountain pens i’ve hoarded by the drawerful. If i don’t need these things, then why is it so hard to get rid

Brutal.

When Microsoft acquired GitHub.

(I need to go do my actual job now, but I'll be back tonight with an actual IDE instead of just scrolling, jaw agape, on my phone, seeing the absolute dogshit salad that was the product of enough wealth to meet some large proportion of all real human needs, globally.)
  • Claude code source "leaks" in a mapfile
  • people immediately use the code laundering machines to code launder the code laundering frontend
  • now many dubious open source-ish knockoffs in python and rust being derived directly from the source

What's anthropic going to do, sue them? Insist in court that LLM recreating copyrighted code is a violation of copyright???

Claude Code's source code has been leaked via a map file in their NPM registry https://xcancel.com/Fried_rice/status/2038894956459290963 😂

Guess what? Most of code is either slop or even old good regex like for detecting negative sentiment in users prompt which is then logged

These tools are going to replace 80% of all dev jobs and their plugin is gonna maintain all security and banking code? 🤡

Once each semester, Grit Matthias Phelps, a German language instructor at Cornell University, introduces her students to the raw feeling of typing without online assistance. No screens, online dictionaries, spellcheckers or delete keys. https://apnews.com/article/typewriter-ai-cheating-chatgpt-cornell-ce10e1ca0f10c96f79b7d988bb56448b
College instructor turns to typewriters to curb AI-written work

Once a semester, a Cornell University instructor requires her students to complete an in-class assignment using typewriters — an exercise to help them understand what writing, thinking and classrooms were like before everything turned digital. The exercise started in 2023, as Grit Mathias Phelps grew frustrated that her German language students were using generative AI and online translation platforms to churn out grammatically perfect assignments. The revival is part of a national trend toward old-school testing methods like in-class pen-and-paper exams and oral tests to prevent AI use for assignments on laptops.
