Used to be that if a giant bridge collapsed, you'd be able to hop on Twitter and read all about it, the rescue efforts, what happened, all as information was being uncovered. It was the place to go for a major news story, people would be tweeting new info and it would all be gathered under the heading 'Francis Scott Key Bridge'...
@interfluidity@Alon What I learned about inflation is, beware of wars and pandemics. At the first hint of supply problems, spend on shelter, infrastructure, and education - NOT on cash to households. Regardless, get off of fossil fuels.
@interfluidity@DiegoBeghin@MisuseCase@Alon There's a doom loop as those best able to compete leave an area. Once it starts, taxes and labor pool are reinforcing. Imagine other nations become like aging Japan, where there's consolidation in few MSA's, but where shelter is expensive in those mega-cities.
@interfluidity I think a lot of growth in the lower wage cohort is from those with higher job mobility. For example, those with lower wages who are older or in a small city or rural area won't change employers or industries. Their employers know it, so their raises are small.
Not every mass killing is genocide. Most are mass murders, massacres, and war crimes. I don't want to be pedantic, but scale the noun, or else you wear out the big "G" when you really need it.
Trump doesn't speak in paragraphs, he speaks in phrases without conjunctions, ambiguous pronouns, and non sequiturs. He communicates in emotion, not logic. It is absurd when read, and can only be understood when heard and seen.
