California's famous duck curve, updated for 2023. CAISO now routinely flirts with near-zero net loads on the sunniest spring days.
So now we have sanctions and boycotts against Russian coal, oil, and gas, but not against Russsia's nuclear industry, because we're too dependent on it?

#EV drivers have yet to cement #brand loyalty to any public charging networks. Even though - or perhaps especially because - most EV charging will happen at home, creating brand-loyal customers is a business imperative for charge point operators.

My Escalent colleague Ben Lundin and I share more about this & other recent findings from EVForward in our latest blog.

Expect to see more of this type of announcement. There were strong corporate rumblings at the MicroGrid Conference last year about this phenomenon. Facilities running microgrids as the primary and the grid as backup - not the other way around. Becomes more appealing as the grid reliability and access are fading. 'Access' also means large volume off-take limitations. Not to mention making your own corporate/ organisational call on sources of generation.

@croselund @kcboyce I've been big on this comparison between lithium mining and coal mining: https://climatecrocks.com/2022/08/18/lithium-and-coal-in-perspective/

Particularly important because the renewables transition can be expected to displace a lot of fossil fuel extraction.
