So for the people who dont know, download mode is a feature in Samsung devices where you could flash images, e.g: custom Roms, now it has been stubbed out with a blue screen??

And sometimes options to exit this mode

fuck Samsung at this point, woww

@joshlaw We are the original FOSS youth organisation and would certainly try to support any children reaching out to us.

I see a real gap in #foss advocacy

there isn't any "protect kids in oss" groups, at least none I can see.

yeah theres rules in some projects saying you can't discriminate no matter on the age

but if you face a trust issue, then your basically fucked. Because the general advice is to meet people in person over a beer and resolve your differences

some people under 18 can't arrange that kind of trip cuz it's expensive and time and safeguarding

that is the real hypocrisy/issue in #OSS

It wasn't until I came back to Arch for a few specific systems that would be too cumbersome to compile everything on (or set up a dedicated binhost for) that I learned that Arch only officially supports SystemD.

Arch is intentionally minimal, right? You'd think it would benefit from choice of init system, considering SystemD does so much. This dependency surprised me.

Edit: I got 'dependency' and 'official support' confused

It seems you can use other init systems, but you're largely on your own at that point.

⚙️ Imagine all #FOSS projects taking a one-week break at the same time.

🔒 No one reviewing or fixing #security bugs in #curl, the #Linux kernel, #Firefox, #Tor, ...

📦 🌑 #Codeberg and #Forgejo going dark. #Debian and #Arch mirrors disappearing. #PyPI, #npm, #crates.io, #docker. #CI pipelines stopping.

Just thinking. ❤️
