Yesterday we launched a new tool that lets you search museums, colleges & other institutions that have failed to return Native American remains, despite a longstanding federal law.

On 1/18, we'll be hosting a free webinar on how journalists and other researchers can use this tool:

"How to Report on the Repatriation of Native American Remains"

I want to leave Goodreads for a nicer bookapp/site, not owned by Amazon, but fediverse. What's the best choice? What's the difference between bookwyrm and story graph? And what do you recommend? #Bookstodon #reading #books #bookwyrm #storygraph. Please Boost, so I can get more answers from people with experience. Thanks.
This business can be so mercurial and fickle at times. Shout out to all my fellow writers out there stressfully waiting on decisions from other professionals whose sensibilities may or may not line up with yours. This shit is hard. #screenwriting

7,000+ nurses are on strike in NY demanding fair wages, increased staffing, and better safety protections.

Don't tell me these hospitals can't afford to pay and protect their nurses.

The top 25 hospitals in NY are averaging a net patient revenue of nearly $2 billion. With a b.

Does Your Local Museum or University Still Have Native American Remains?
---
In 1990, Congress passed the Native American Graves Protection & #Repatriation Act (NAGPRA), which set up a process for tribes to request the return of remains.

33 years later, at least half of the remains of more than 210,000 #NativeAmericans have yet to be returned.

Use this tool to see which #museums, #colleges & govt. agencies still have them:

Just a reminder that if you have any household help (housekeeper, gardeners, etc.) and you haven’t increased their rate to keep up with inflation, you’re effectively cutting their pay.

Don’t make them ask. Just google the inflation rate in your country. Multiply their pay by 1.[inflation rate], and round up. That’s what you pay now.

While we’re all legit feeling our Latine pride over #WakandaForever please hold space for the millions of Indigenous people throughout the Americas. All of the cultures that inspired Talokun are still alive and still often not treated well by colonizing forces.

Democrat Wes Moore has just been elected Governor of Maryland. He will be the state's first Black governor.

One bright spot of news with this is that several trans rights pieces of legislation will almost certainly be passed and signed into law next year.
