I always end my talks with kids with this question:
What do you want the adults to know?
Today's answer:
Just because you think the stuff I like is weird doesn't mean you should say that to me.

Hey parents. Even parents of teens. Go take a parenting course. Even if you're a great parent, you'll learn something that will help you be even better.
I meet way too many kids who have "good parents" that they can't talk to.
I was once talking with someone who should have had my back, but instead was participating in bashing me. They told me "I do what I need to for people to like me. I need to fit in."
I'll never trust them again. But they have my compassion. Because what a shitty way to live
People who don't like kids shouldn't be allowed to work with kids.
Hashtag stuff that shouldn't have to be said and yet.
An 8 yr old I worked with today kept telling me they were excited to have Polysporin for dinner. I still have no idea what they're having for dinner tonight.
What food could be confused with polysporin?!
I work with a lot of kids. There are 3 main things they want from you:
❤️ Your time without them having to ask for it, not related to their (or their siblings) activities
❤️ To not be involved in adult disagreements about parenting & relationships
❤️ To be seen as a whole person
I spend most Sunday evenings #coaching teens or young adults. I work mostly with kids who have challenges around:
👉 finding a path after pandemic grad
👉 making more positive choices with peers
👉 getting their adults on the same page to move forward through a challenging circumstance
I love Youth Resilience coaching so much. Kids just want to be heard, without judgement.
