Reminder of a time when we had 5mph speed limits for cars where people live #transport #urbanism
Well done Leicester CC: two lines of defence for a point closure with cycle bypass. Seems to be working. Glad you weren't forced into having to deploy tank traps as well.
How Sustainable is the Electric Car? | Centre for Transport and Society blog

A new book edited by Graham Parkhurst and Billy Clayton tackles the critical question as to whether the rise of the electric car represents an important contribution to sustainable mobility.

That's my December article for Highways Magazine submitted.

As a sneaky peak, I make reference to this design of roundabout which appears in the Design Manual for Roads & Bridges.

I would love to hear those involved in allowing this in the standard to defend their decision. This is hostile for walking, wheeling and cycling by design.

Excellent article by @RantyHighwayman on Human Centred Design on page 58 of this month’s Highways Magazine. Legible environments influence road user behaviour more than road signs - who’d a thunk it?

Well @johnparkin_28 for one, whose research shows design priority gives better cycle/ped priority over side roads than marked priority (see LTN 1/20 Fig 10.13).

#introduction. I am Professor of Transport Engineering at UWE. I worked for consulting engineers before joining academia. I have been involved in transport policy, modelling, operational analysis, economic appraisal, design and construction, and evaluation. My interest is infrastructure for everyday cycling. Pictures of tarmac and mountains are my staple imagery.
