I dread updates on my Android phone. The latest one installed Gemini and hijacked the power switch to turn the bloody thing on. Apparently "Fuck off, Gemini!" isn't a command it understands.
After a bit of research I've managed to reclaim the power switch and disable the unwanted AI.
Surely updates should make your phone work better not worse.
Boost this toot if you're planning on sticking around Mastodon & the Fediverse whether or not it's more popular than Bluesky.
Great news! Occult Detective Magazine is on the shortlist for a British Fantasy Award for Best Magazine!
Our latest offering is Mythos Special Volume 2 with a variety of Cosmic Horror and Lovecraftian tales.

Mischief in the Wood is a YA novel by Tina Rath, from Cathaven Press. It's cosy horror, full of folklore and magic.
Three teens venture into an ancient wood and then into Elfland to recover a mysterious lost thing, but, as the ballad of Tam Lin tells us, it isn't safe for mortals to go on such dangerous journeys and they'll need all their wits and courage to survive.
Now available in print and ebook.

Sorry for the Cathaven Press promotion posts - promise I won't do it often. Our sales are in the doldrums at the moment. I didn't put in any direct links to Amazon but the books should come up on a search of title or author.
Cathaven Press also published my big space-opera, Warbird. It's about the Terran Space Corps Vessel Vienna, a voidship, which makes first contact with a race of winged, eight-limbed aliens on her maiden voyage. It's available on Amazon in print and ebook.
As I mentioned before I run Cathaven Press with my partner. We publish Occult Detective Magazine - we're working on ODM Mythos Special Volume 2 at the moment - but we have other titles available on Amazon in print and ebook versions. There's The Angry Dead, a book of ghost stories by Rosemary Pardoe, about church art restorer, Jane Bradshawe. That one has a gargoyle illo for each story by Autumn Barlow. She also illustrated A Solemn Curfew by Bev Allen, a collection of cosy folk horror tales.
