I write sci-fi/fantasy stories, love science (especially astronomy), pop culture, and music of all forms. I'm married to the woman of my dreams @mehgana and we live in the interior of beautiful BC with a clowny Bernese Mountain Dog named Zeus. Our Bernese Mountain Dog has some siblings. From left to right, meet Dot, Yakko, and Wakko. #CatsOfMastodon

First time I've seen a flammagenitus cloud in person. At the base of this cloud is a #BCWildfire. We were flying at about 20,000 feet at the time, which given the terrain probably puts the cloud top at about 22,000 feet AGL.

It's hard to convey just the sheer awesome scale of this. Everyone on the plane was completely silent as we flew past it.

I hope BBC News's web team hasn't left for the weekend...

Hey Gen Xers; there's a longer time between the release of Taylor Swift's latest album and Michael Jackson's Thriller album than there is between Thriller and Bing Crosby's White Christmas.

Feel about this old?

Someone at BBC's caption department is definitely not a Marvel fan.
It's a matter of taste, but for both my wife and I, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 was a huge miss. Great performances from some of the actors, but a plodding, tonally-random story filled with plot holes and poor direction killed it. I don't think Marvel understands their own brand anymore. Just made me miss the first movie.
It's messed up that for my generation "Summers were better when I was a kid" isn't just nostalgia.
