Because I'm perfectly willing to try any alternative to the bird site, I tried Hive.

I only checked it out for about a minute, but it's not for me. It feels a lot like Instagram. Photo-first, not text first.

I don't want to be inundated with selfies.

Coming from the bird site, I freely admit the idea of the Fediverse was super confusing and weird. But now that I've had some time to understand it, I'm a full-on evangelist.

Put simply: if you don't like the moderation rules on your server, find a different one! Or one that caters to your interests/career/social group. Or roll your own.

They talk to each other, so get comfortable where you are!

On a recent episode of (the VERY good!) Video Archives podcast, Roger Avary made an offhand reference to his work adapting from other media, including games.

I had forgotten that at one point he was going to make a Wolfenstein movie, and now I'm dying to know what could have been.
