I've seen a lot of people saying that liking posts here is pointless, but I absolutely love the way it works - it feels like what this sort of feature is actually supposed to do.

If I put a star on a toot, I'm not trying to blast it to the universe, I just want to quietly inform the poster that I liked or appreciated what they shared. Not everything needs a comment and I don't always have the mental energy to make one, but I still want someone to know that I valued their thought.

@AyUpMeDucks Well, that got me. 🙂
@leeleedee That’s where my brain goes every time at the moment.

#introduction

Four years later, and I’m back! Back! Back! This is the account I set up last time I remember everyone talking about Mastodon and the fediverse, but that was nothing compared to what we’re seeing at the moment. Now it’s a major migration to the decentralised, open Internet, hurrah!

Anyway, I’m a standard-issue #nerd from New Zealand with a love of #science, #technology, #rationality, #videogames and #economics.

Pleased to meet you all.

@nizmow Maybe I should get an account? Will I get invited to all the cool parties?

@andreasfrom Hmm. Sounds tricky!

I tend think of my gender as an identity imposed on me by others - something that other people refer to me as, and a set of gendered expectations they have of me. I’m generally okay going along with it (which makes me cis gendered) as long as there are relatively few demands that are easily complied with, but I try not to embrace it.

I’m quite interested in how others relate to their genders.

@andreasfrom That’s interesting. If you don’t mind me asking, what does it feel like to you to have a gender?
@nizmow I use modizer, which is fantastic.
Nebulos by Audiomonster is such an epic and amazing mod.
