Unless someone like you...

In just over an hour the #NHS #radiographers start their #strike.

I know I keep saying this, but if in the next couple of days your #treatment is delayed due to their action, please remember no-one in the NHS wants to harm #patients.

The strikers have been backed into a corner by an aggressive policy of defunding the NHS carried out by a party contemptuous of our #HealthService!

Lay this at the #Tories door and...

Greta Thunberg fined over Swedish climate protest

The climate activist was on trial for disobeying a police order to leave the protest in Malmo last month.

Everyday something more to suggest this post would have been more timely a year or two ago.

I'm finding it a little hard to work today with this in my head. Antarctic ice extent is now 6.4 standard deviations below the mean. That is, I'm reliably told, a one in 13 billion year event. We're about to see a lot of shit hit a lot of fans. And we are far from ready. Business as usual is over. Politics as usual is over. We need to be putting our effort into building systems that can help us survive what greed and power and wilful blindness have wrought. #ClimateCrisis #Antarctica 📎

Ok, the world is on fire, billionaires are burning down democracy, the rich are hoarding houses while the rest can't get a home.

We need to talk about transforming our cities!

What's it going to take to face up to the climate / ecological / social / economic / political crises and ensure we can live better together in cities, even in the teeth of these crises?

We're going to discuss all this and more at The Green Institute conference next month in Meanjin / Brisbane. The program went up last week, and tickets are selling, so don't miss out!

Just saw someone advocating progressive movements organize on the Fediverse.

BE VERY VERY CAREFUL ABOUT SAYING STUFF LIKE THIS.

-Most fediverse tie-ins are not architected to protect you. For instance, Mastodon Direct Messages are not encrypted and admins can access them.

-Most instances are hosted by ordinary people who don't have the time, knowledge, or resources to fight subpoenas in either criminal or civil actions.

Meet here. Support each other. Cheer each other on. Show solidarity, and elevate and amplify each other.

Organize in much more restricted environments, like end-to-end encrypted messengers like Signal.

Quotation marks in the wrong place:

"Rishi Sunak says he does not want to hassle "families" with net zero targets"

"Families" like the Saudi and Qatari Royal Families and the Koch family etc.

We ran one of our monthly #RepairCafes yesterday. Happy to say that we accomplished all of our goals.

1. Everyone had a great time
2. We fixed most of the things we were asked to fix
3. No one got hurt
4. We didn't blow any fuses

I'm also happy to see that we fixed three sewing machines. These stand out to me because these are things that will be used to fix other things. Fixing stuff has trickle down. #fixer #fix #repaircafe #community #Coventry

UN Report Says Small-Scale Organic Farming Only Way to Feed the World - Organic Consumers

Transformative changes are needed in our food, agriculture and trade systems in order to increase diversity on farms, reduce our use of fertilizer and other inputs, support small-scale farmers and create strong local food systems. That's the...
