El hipertiroidismo ocurre cuando la glándula tiroides produce demasiada tiroxina, la hormona responsable de regular muchas funciones corporales, incluyendo el ritmo cardíaco, la temperatura corporal, el crecimiento y los niveles de actividad. Por lo tanto, en casos de hipertiroidismo, el cuerpo pasa a estar "muy activo": palpitaciones, pérdida de peso, ansiedad, sudoración y a veces temblores.
