Canada’s C-22 bill is a surveillance overreach that paves the way to backdoor encrypted communications of users around the world. https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2026/05/canadas-bill-c-22-repackaged-version-last-years-surveillance-nightmare
Canada’s Bill C-22 Is a Repackaged Version of Last Year’s Surveillance Nightmare

Last year, the Canadian government pushed Bill C-2, which would erode Canadian digital rights in the name of “border security.” The bill was so bad it didn’t even make it to committee because of the backlash from the privacy community. Now, the spring’s worst sequel, Bill C-22, aka The Lawful Access Act, is trying it again.

Also, WestJet can go get fucked. This is on LineageOS 23 on a Pixel 7.
I'm guessing this is due to some Play Integrity bs, which a dumb boarding pass/infotainment app really does not require.

... Surely they mean any *time* is break time, right? Or are the makers of this sign more conversant with general relativity than I expected?

So long #vf2026 !! Had an amazing weekend and met lots of lovely floofs :3

Because age verification is really just there to:

- suppress queer information
- restrict abortion access
- gatekeep sexual education
- slurp up more personal data for marketing

"But think of the children!"

Maybe we should think about the corporations that prey on their attention-spans and self-esteem instead.

ONLINE ID CHECKS WILL RUIN THE INTERNET

Fight for the Future

Me: "If this API is prone to misuse by a careless or clueless developer, that is a security issue that needs fixing."

Me: "If the tests pass even if I change the logic of the source code, then the test doesn't actually cover it. I don't care what the code coverage metrics say."

Me: "The threat model needs to state its assumptions as well as both risks both mitigated and not mitigated."

Other projects, apparently: "Well this attack is outside our threat model so we're dismissing your report, but we'll eventually fix it as a defense-in-depth if we really must I guess."

Step up your game.

We paid thousands of dollars to make this open access for you to enjoy.

Knowing the rate of air-sea gas exchange is critical for assessing the efficiency of marine CO₂ removal (mCDR). We assume we know this rate, but we really don't in coastal areas where mCDR is likely to be deployed. This means that models that use open-ocean gas exchange parameterizations (all of them) will overestimate the amount of atmospheric CO₂ removed by these deployments.

“What do you have to hide?“

Everything.

Full stop. Period.

Every. Thing.

What I had for breakfast is my choice to put out in the world.

Who I love, who my friends are, what we talk about, the books I read, the websites I visit, my favourite animal, my choice of shoelaces.

It. Does. Not. Matter. How. “Big”. Or “Small”.

Every. Thing.

It’s all up to me to decide who I want to share anything with.
