Just back from seeing the new Iron Maiden documentary, 'Burning Ambition', at the cinema with my youngest (16 yo).

A good time was most definitely had, and once the end credits had finished rolling my son turned to me and said, "Well, I'm looking forward to the gig in November even more now!" which I will take as an endorsement. 🤘 🖤

Slightly belated (for Oz) #LetterboxdFriday, but here’s my #LastFourWatched.

(Why yes, I am on something of a Meiko Kaji thing at the moment.) 😉

I seem to be spending a lot of time in Pokopia; it is SO damn good - an unholy mix of Pokémon (sans combat), Minecraft and Animal Crossing. Hours slip by as I just... happily faff about.

My only real regret so far is missing getting a screenshot of the lovely Mareep when I spotted it at a distance declaring via speech bubble, "I'm so fluffy!" 🐏

Found this low-key example of nature's tenacity and resilience weirdly heartening.

Returned to my replay of #ProfessorLayton and the Curious Village that I started some time last year... only to discover I'd left it on the eighth (of nine) chapters and probably should have pushed through to the finish back then.

Anyway, a couple of hours' puzzling this evening, and the mystery of St. Mystere is a mystery no more... 😉

Finally got to read 'Thunder City' by @PhilipReeve and I think it might just be my favourite Mortal Engines novel since the very first.

A genuinely thrilling adventure story that also hit me right in the feels at one particular point. So good.

Can't wait for sequel 'Bridge of Storms', which I have on preorder. 😎

Last night I found both seasons of the classic 'Monkey' TV series are free to stream on Brollie, including the half of season 2 not originally translated/broadcast in the west in the 1980s, so there's 52 eps instead of 39.

Watched the first episode last night, and it was still brilliant. Going to try to restrict myself to one ep per day...

Just saw this on b3ta's "animal replacments" image challenge and for some reason thought of @llamasoft_ox ...

In a swashbuckling mood last night, I wound up watching 2023 French film, 'The Three Musketeers: D'Artagnan'.

Very enjoyable, albeit without the campness and slapstick of my beloved Richard Lester musketeer films.

Interestingly the Lester films follow the book more closely, but the broad strokes are all here. This ends with a literal “To be continued…” as a second two-hour film “The Three Musketeers: Milady” finishes the story. Will def watch it in the next day or so. ⚔️ 😎
