Time for a new #BeyondTheScanlines - with Heart of Neon available for digital/streaming, I thought it'd be a great idea to do a quick bit on it, and hopefully convince y'all to check it out!

YOU SHOULD GO WATCH Heart of Neon! Seriously!

Just back from seeing the new Iron Maiden documentary, 'Burning Ambition', at the cinema with my youngest (16 yo).

A good time was most definitely had, and once the end credits had finished rolling my son turned to me and said, "Well, I'm looking forward to the gig in November even more now!" which I will take as an endorsement. 🤘 🖤

It was cold and wet enough this morning that I am wearing jeans rather than shorts for the first time since last November. Long pants feel like leg-coffins.

Over five months was a good run, I know, but it still feels like I lost the battle somehow.

"the most PT Barnum motherfuckers you ever saw" is the perfect descriptor, as it's (a) 100% accurate and (b) also manages to encapsulate the suckers lapping this shit up.

#MayThe4th is here once more, so here's a little #StarWars videogame history for the few possibly interested - an interview I did with Jack Yarwood at @timeextension.com back in 2023, about developing #NES Star Wars for Lucasfilm.

Just watched 'One Cut of the Dead', a Japanese zombie-comedy film I'd never heard of before, that popped up in my recommends and I decided to take a punt on.

Definitely the right choice - it is a thing of creative and cinematic joy. I wrote a few words about it - have a quick read below (there's no spoilers) then get on it.

PS Currently streaming for free on #SBSOnDemand for those in Oz (or who have a VPN and pretend to be).

A ★★★★ review of One Cut of the Dead (2017)

Wow. This started as a random watch and an hour and a half later is now up there as one of the most enjoyable movies I've seen in years. Certainly the absolute best zom-com since Shaun of the Dead, without a shadow of a doubt. Two things: 1. Go in knowing as little as possible about it. 2. Persevere through the first half hour, no matter how much your cinematic viewing instincts might tell you to switch off. Once you hit around the 35 minute mark, hopefully you will be glad you stuck with it. Cos in essence this is
