@herder Yeah, I look back at younger me and feel embarrassed at my optimism about the Internet and social media before ad impression optimization made everything hell, but maybe we're moving towards something more sane and sustainable now that i's all crashing down?

There is a Nov. 1st vesting at Twitter. By announcing a start mass layoffs, Musk is trying to avoid employees this portion of their compensation. This is because he’s a scumbag.
Mass layoffs without notice are illegal, btw. He obviously doesn’t gad but this will be a lawsuit.

It skips the “Enter your Mastodon handle” popup and takes you to your own “home” instance, without entering your Mastodon handle on remote instances.
Another #MastodonTip for people of the #TwitterMigration (other than using camel case for hashtags) is that Mastodon instances are not run by corporations with thousands of employees. Usually it is just a handful of volunteers and an instance owner or two.
A huge influx of users, like this, all at once is a lot to handle. Stuff may break or slow down for a bit.
It'll be okay. Things will level out & it will all work again. The same thing happened in back in April.
