My country
@mcc pockets.

I'd like to take a moment to congratulate all Americans for now legally being defined as women.

According to Executive Order 14168 (https://www.federalregister.gov/documents/2025/01/30/2025-02090/defending-women-from-gender-ideology-extremism-and-restoring-biological-truth-to-the-federal), the "biological truth" of the genders has been legally defined:

(d) β€œFemale” means a person belonging, at conception, to the sex that produces the large reproductive cell.
(e) β€œMale” means a person belonging, at conception, to the sex that produces the small reproductive cell.

Here's the problem, turns out that the universe isn't taking attendance at the time of conception and handing out little pink and blue genderino badges before your gonads even exist. At the moment of conception, EVERY embryo's default state is set to produce, eventually, the larger reproductive cell (the ova). It's not until 6-8 weeks AFTER conception that the Y chromosome, if present and activated, decides to show up to the party and begin the process of differentiation into a body that will, eventually, produce the smaller reproductive cell (the sperm).

So, once again, I'd like to congratulate literally everybody in America for, at this moment, being legally AFAB.

Back in '21, after we had the vaccine, there was a subreddit with a very simple premise: find social media posts of people who were anti-mask, anti-vaccine, anti-lockdown, then find the social media posts from when those exact same people caught COVID and died.

Even as they were dying, most of those people couldn't admit where they'd gone wrong. Even death wasn't enough to open their eyes.

In case you were wondering if we'll ever be able to reach some of the people who got us into this shit.

@jon_alper I wonder if @textfiles has a friend on the East Coast.

@xyla It's doing its best.
@xyla it's working overtime constantly. what a champ
@xyla my friend recently had live saving liver transplant, his liver is now succeeding and i am very very happy abt it
@astronema liver emoji chart with upwards trend emoji
@xyla I honestly can't tell if this is an updog/"search 'whatever e621' to learn more" type joke or if it's just the actual mundane positivity thing it sounds like. Either way I think I'm here for it. :3
@xyla I love my liver, I think about it quite often
@xyla I feel like I'm gonna jinx it if I boost this now
@follpvosten @xyla you can share it after you get your next results on liver values, assuming they are good
@xyla Let's say, it's kinda scraping by ...
@xyla I'm not sure what exactly a liver does, but I'm sure she's doing her best.
@xyla with all of today's online shopping I don't know that many people have one of those

Everyone has had to deal with at least one de-liver-y
@xyla some people live. other people liver.
@xyla Mine’s The brave little liver.
@xyla Despite the obstacles I’ve put in its way over the years, it is πŸ™‚
@xyla I plan to make my liver properly succeed this weekend!
@xyla sorry i can't share my liver is failing (I am taking medication to help it succeed)
@xyla the only successful liver is one that's served with onions and mash
@xyla thanks liver, you're doing great!
@xyla it's called liver because as long as it succeeds you're 'living'
@xyla
I have 2x ADHD children, 1 is verrified gifted other is suspected. Both use they're smarts to argue against all the coping tools handed to them for the aforementioned ADHD.
My liver is trying to leave though my ear canal to protest it's current living conditions.
@xyla chronic liver success
@xyla I’m a liver lover (although I can’t stand the taste of cooked liver)!
@xyla liver looks at the camera, sighs and declares "it's a liver"
@xyla It’s still soft and squishy, not hard and scarred. I’m going to count that as a win.
@xyla i'm benefitting from liver success as we speak
@xyla my liver is fighting the good fight. I'm not sure it will survive another decade of me, though.
@xyla well, despite my best efforts, mine still works
@xyla Dr House the patient has jaundice

@xyla

I really improved my liver numbers when I quit drinking...but unfortunately, you really don't know how well your liver is doing...until it fails.

@cassandracorvid not quite, periodic health checks can catch any disruptions at very early stages*

*for most people

@xyla

Not sure how it is where you live but my MD didn't say anything until my numbers improved because my old numbers "weren't that bad."

My cholesterol is managed to a gnat's ass because there is a medication to sell me, but most everything else is "meh."

@cassandracorvid ah, america

@xyla

The other part of the problem is that my MD is a geriatric specialist so I constantly have to prompt my provider to use stricter comparisons. I want to be compared to 50 year olds, not 80 year olds (I'm 71).

@xyla it feels a bit ableist to retoot this, but I needed a win this week. Also, it's hilarious
@xyla you know, it's kind of a matter of definition... we think ours is kind of doing both at once...
@xyla in the same sense that "living" and "dying" are two words for the same process
@xyla, one problem: that's a Vogon's brain.
@xyla my liver is succeeding in saving me money for detox diets and supplements right now! 😁
