#EDC has been the hotness for a while. But what about your #tech #tools #kit? Here's what I carry in my bag:
- Workpro 12-inch tool bag
- iFixit Pro Tech Toolkit
- Wera Tool-Check Plus (both Imperial and metric kits)
- Nitecore TUP flashlight
- Cheap visual fault locator for fiber
- Cisco console cable
- USB-to-serial adapter
- Peterson Ghost Pick Set
- Assorted zip ties
- Several feet of Velcro
- Sheet of phone numbers for teammates
#AARP also has some good fraud protection resources for non-technical people (https://www.aarp.org/money/scams-fraud/). But I am still searching for something quick and easy to read. Something that lists major red flags.

I've been looking for simple guidance for non-technical people on how to notice and avoid scams. While there are many resources online, I haven't been able to find much that is simple and short. But I did find this from the FTC: https://consumer.ftc.gov/system/files?file=consumer_ftc_gov/pdf/1009a_how_to_avoid_a_scam_july2023_508.pdf
The same day as my last post about my recent lack of text spam, I came home to hear about a family member who was minutes away from transferring $50K to a fraudster before they were caught. They were claiming to be police and had spoofed the local police department's number. There were threats.

@hackedtobits

USPS has been bugging the crap out of me about a misdelivered package and they keep changing the dollar amount I have to pay to get it resent.

Text spam has dropped significantly for me in the last month. That is, until Wells Fargo threatened to "cankle" my account. Since I don't have a WF account, I'm okay with the swollen ankle.

People following me for cybersecurity content: Chris Bing, one of the most distinguished reporters on this beat, recently joined the Fediverse. Chris has broken way too many stories to count and also has valuable insight into all things related to hacking. Please follow him.
