Profile ImageMe 58 years ago. Taken by the only adult in my parents' circle that understood what this nerd talked about in high school.
When I was young and naive I thought open source would protect us from the kind of abuse that has been proposed in California. Never expected it would provide a reference implementation
@strandbeutel @strandbeutel I suppose the right direction is going for no trains, so they will never be late.

@DoomsdaysCW @chis_r Basic electrical work is relatively simple. Taking care and checking your work is important. Buy a cheap multimeter so you can check that it is really off.
There is nothing complicated in a normal oven unless it is a modern enshittified wifi connected model.
Stay away from microwaves, they store energy for a long time.
I spent 10 years in a electronics repair workshop, I am still shit scared of microwaves and cathode ray tubes.

Researchers from Cornell University have developed what they call "the Corporate Bullshit Receptivity Scale," a tool designed to measure how impressed people are by business school-style jargon that sounds strategic but says very little.

The findings, described in a recent study, suggest that employees who rate this sort of language as insightful are more likely to struggle with analytical thinking and workplace decision-making.

I’m contemplating another crazy idea.
I need/want to migrate a VPS in Europe to South Africa.
It is FreeBSD using ZFS so zfs send | zfs recv over ssh seems like a valid method, but it will probably take a really long time and you need to run as root. Anyway YOLO

@joyousjoyness Reminds me of our childhood border collie Flink (nimble, agile, quick) that was a brilliant fielder in our backyard cricket games. We mostly played one bounce, one hand for catches. Flink did proper catches but of course one bounce, one mouth also counted.
PS We played with soft rubber balls not real cricket balls in case you wondered.
