The Electric State RPG from Free League landed in my mailbox today and oof, this game is bleak... Road tripping through a slow motion apocalypse in alternate mid 90s California, with a random table for mental trauma when you suffer a breakdown. “End of the day, you’re your own man, and it’s your call. But if anyone gives you crap about it, tell ‘em it’s none of their damn business.”

Just ran a one-shot of Hypertellurians, or as I like to think of it: Flamboyant Traveller.

The players made characters - Flesh Golem, Shark Lady, Were-Raccoon, and went through part of the sample adventure.

Fun game. Will most likely run it again.

Reading the 2024 Dragon Game book, it did some reasonable good stuff. It's still a compromise game that does everything halfway good, and nothing particularly well, but at least they seem to have rounded off some sharp corners.

Me: we should increase our life insurance. I worry about what would happen if I died unexpectedly....

Kiddo: but Dad, you won't die.... Unexpectedly.
