Havenโt posted here in a while:
Iโm off work for the holidays, so I figured it was a good time to make a #USB joystick for my AIO emulation TV.
My main design goal here is to exclusively use parts I already have. In this case, itโs the electronics from a very cheap USB controller that came in a pack of 2 for $5. Iโm housing it in the storage case from a Sony Betamax video tape, with a microswitch joystick, buttons, wires, and breadboards leftover from other projects.
I have the parts tested and working, and now Iโm dremeling out the holes, and mounting the rest of buttons and circuits on the bread board. The dremeling sucks because Sony went overboard on this case. Aside from protecting a tape, Iโm pretty sure this thing could stop a bullet. ๐

@TwosomesUP I didnโt have a 2600 until recently - I didnโt have great memories of playing it at friendsโ houses. But now that I have one I love it.
Go-tos are Ms. Pac-Man, Cosmic Ark, and River Raid.
We like to do trivia during tours to keep visitors thinking. One is about early ROM cartridge-based #videogame systems.
Many think the #Atari 2600 was first, but let's hear it for Jerry Lawson and the #Fairchild Channel F, which came out a year prior. Also check out his Google Doodle today (don't stop at the first or second flag or you're missing the fun)!
@iyalei definitely. Iโm only there because Iโve made some good friends from a handful of tag and shitposting groups, and itโs the only platform that has so many different ways of interacting.
More and more of that content and those people are just as accessible on other platforms now though, so Iโm slowly phasing it out. I deleted the app a few weeks ago and havenโt really missed it.
@iyalei Facebook is the worst for this. On mobile especially. Not only will I lose my place and maybe something I was typing, but their search is terrible. So sometimes I just canโt find it again and I never get to say the thing I wanted to say. Twitter refreshing might now bother me as much because Iโve relied on it that much.
Mastadon is infinitely better than either in this though.
