New article on trait-environment relationships in tropical forests of French Guiana.

Marion Boisseaux has published a new paper from her PhD thesis (part of the METRADICA project). While environment didn't explain much of the trait value variation when traits were considered individually, it had a strong influence on trait syndromes.

More than one quarter of Africa’s tree cover is found outside areas previously classified as forest - Nature Communications

Recent analyses have suggested that tree cover in non-forest ecosystems may be much higher than expected. Here, the authors map tree cover down to the individual tree level for the entire continent of Africa and find that almost 30% is found outside areas classified as forests.

My book is done. I need to write a conclusion to the last chapter and will likely rewrite some paragraphs, but I won't make major changes anymore. So if you're interested in building reproducible analytical pipelines with #RStats, take a look it's free: https://raps-with-r.dev/

Check out our soil erosion demo we made using the FAO instructions (https://bit.ly/3LkayXF). Looking at the runoff in the cups, you can see that the mulch and grass reduce soil erosion (Sandy soils on the left [bare, mulch, grass] and fine soils on the right [mulch, bare]) #soil
