I'm with you. It's often hard to believe, for many, that some people out there do work because they believe in the good it can bring. Someone has to cut the new path through the jungle, and it is not for the weak of heart.

Decentralization of social media, among many other things, will fix a lot of the biggest problems with social media BECAUSE it is decentralized.

Decentralized is democratic social media, and centralized is autocratic social media.

Easy math on that one..

@A_Dommerholt 100% It amazes me that people who have not been involved in this infowar/war with russia still think that russia has ANY credibility. They are state sponsored liars, thieves, and murders. And I mean that in the most literal sense possible. People think it's more complex. It's not. They're not sophisticated. If you let them, they will murder you, and steal your stuff. Period. It's WHAT they do. Look at VERY smaller country around russia... It's WHAT THEY DO.

@Illdisposed In addition to that, fellas all contribute in any way they can, and that has meant millions in donations for Ukraine, and even more in direct equipment donations. It has also meant large scale pressure on western politicians to supply better arms. You probably noticed leaders' positions on weapons supplies changed a lot.... that was not a coincidence. Zelensky even gave NAFO a plaque honoring our service. It's no joke. But we do make lots of jokes!!😀

Because there weren't 150k-200k semi organized people doing it 24/7/365 before NAFO. The russian machine was too big to make a difference, until we got bigger than them.

There are MANY people out there still who just believe randoms on twitter and accept that what they say is true. And russia exploits this every chance they can.

We counter russian BS arguments so their BS is not left unchecked, and we get their accounts locked, and suspended, by the thousands per month.

@staidwinnow It is. Mastodon is great to interact with actual people, just being people (I would call these this "legit" users). Twitter seems to have become a war zone for agendas, which by default includes many non legit accounts built exclusively for that purpose.

@Illdisposed Because it's a large piece of the russian propaganda machine. There are thousands of state sponsored accounts there, masquerading as legitimate users, trying to manipulate other countries' people and politics. It's an all out infowar and as #NAFO #fellas, we fight it.
