Trying to keep your mental and emotional health in check while also consuming lots of media that goes against your beliefs in order to know what you're up against is a tricky balancing act. What do all of you do for that?
We’re not against Christians, we're against Christian Nationalism. We're not fighting men, we’re fighting patriarchy. The target is not white people, it's white supremacy. We don't oppose heterosexuals, just homophobia. Join the work dismantling oppressive systems.

Also, “men should be sterilized to prevent unwanted pregnancies!” ain’t it either. Bodily autonomy has constantly been under attack in the US—we have a a colonialist, racist, and ableist history of performing medical procedures like sterilization without consent.

Suggesting sterilization of anyone isn’t a creative thought experiment, it’s well-worn fascist and eugenicist territory.

Millions of folks live in these states who didn’t vote for these laws, many who have been working tirelessly on reproductive justice issues for decades. They can’t necessarily just move to a new state and THEY SHOULDN’T HAVE TO. They have communities and histories there. If we care about abortion access, abandoning huge swaths of the country isn’t an option.

Just some grumbling about the comments on that Intercept article I boosted:

If your answer to states criminalizing abortion is to shout things like “let them secede!” or “leave them to rot!” I’m begging you to realize that the people who will be hurt the most by these laws are typically living at intersections of BIPOC, poor, trans, and/or disabled.

A study (preprint) predicts overturning #Roe will lead to a 24% increase in maternal mortality *solely due to more pregnancies which are more life threatening than #abortion.*

Per the CDC, there are 0.41 deaths from legal abortion per 100K versus pregnancy which is 23.8 per 100K.

This Axios piece links the study. Much nuance to the data so I recommend exploring more! #MedMastodon
