has anyone created a public (voip) PBX for modem-based retrocomputing? to be clear: i'm talking about something like a SIP Proxy which would allow for direct IP-to-IP connections between client/server.

Netatalk 4.1.0 has been released, and is now for the first time also available as a Homebrew formula.

Get it with `brew install netatalk` today!

This version of the open source AFP server is the best yet for running on macOS. We now store resource forks natively as Extended Attributes, and is able to sync with FinderInfo metadata.

For instance, you can extract a StuffIt archive containing Classic Mac OS files, using the Unarchiver, onto a shared AFP volume, and have the resource forks carry over seamlessly.

To celebrate the return of Classic Mac OS icons in Netatalk 4.0.2, I drew this original microSD-on-a-tray icon in ResEdit, converted it to a C byte array, and dropped into the Netatalk code.

It's a nod to the fact that people like to run Netatalk on RPis these days. (Thanks to the TinkerDifferent community for the idea.)

Enable it by setting `legacy icon = sdcard` in the Global section of your afp.conf.

Upgrade to Netatalk 4.0.2 today!
