The United Farm Workers has unionized 500 workers at five farms in New York State.

UFW president Teresa Romero said the victories were made possible by a 4-year-old NY law – the Farm Laborers Fair Labor Practices Act – giving workers a state-protected right to unionize and prohibiting retaliation against farm workers seeking to organize.

The law requires farms to recognize a union once a majority of workers sign pro-union cards.

From the point of view of Mastodon, joining a #Lemmy or #kbin community is just following an account.

You just need to know their Fediverse ID, so you can look them up in search to find them.

(Notice the Fediverse IDs in the screenshots.)

#kbin is part of the #fediverse, right? How does one go about following a magazine from a Mastodon account?

@AvengingFemme at the same time, i wouldn't recommend lemmy for a lot of reasons, at least until there is a fork.

heres someone who collected a list of these reasons
