Miss Hairy Woodpecker from a couple of weeks ago. She's adorable when she drinks at the bird bath. Very chill!

They seem to be on the ground a lot more than the downies.

My local flock of pigeons are very shy. They are not city pigeons accustomed to people and they never come down when I’m outside in the yard. As soon as I go inside they make their move on the water sources.

Things I love about this #dinosaur story:

1) The discoverer is a retired GP on a 2nd career as PhD student

2) It's a NEW DINOSAUR

3) It's named for sailor Ellen Macarthur because of the sail on it's back

Istiorachis macarthurae, named after sailor Ellen MacArthur, had a pronounced sail along its back that may have been used to attract mates

Pretty sure the vast majority of people don’t want to get sick regardless of their party affiliation. 🤔 #health #news

More evidence (this time from the public sector in Scotland) that the four day week not only improves workers' wellbeing, it also improves productivity. Moreover, this is a proper four day week - rescued hours but no loss of pay - making it a powerful example, both for the Scottish government's management of its civil service & more widely.

The momentum is building for the four day week & its social benefits....

Because destroying the US is not enough, Trump is using tariffs, visa restrictions, and trade deals to pressure other countries to abandon climate goals and increase fossil fuel use, further destroying the world and the future.

Trump, With Tariffs and Threats, Tries to Strong-Arm Nations to Retreat on Climate Goals

The president has made no secret of his distaste for wind and solar in America. Now he’s taking his fossil fuel agenda overseas.

Amazing yield in our blackberry thicket this summer. I pick in the afternoons, and the coyotes and field mice take over at night. Plenty for everyone. I've been freezing them for winter baking. Tip: If you put shot glasses in the corners of your baking sheet, you can stack another on top in the freezer.
Did you know that all 4-star female officers have been purged from the US military? I didn't until I read this article.

New in PN: Trump isn't the solution to the "crisis of manhood," he's the problem "The more obvious the alteration in a woman’s appearance — even to the point of being grotesque — the more she has shown her commitment to serve him. No one needs to tell Kristi Noem to get back in her place, because she’s already there." https://www.publicnotice.co/p/trump-misogyny-kristi-noem-manhood-crisis
