I've heard this film described as "divisive". Personally I loved it and could relate to Bella's struggle for self determination and self discovery in a world which would rather see women as wives to husbands and mothers of children #PoorThings
"The public library does not make anyone money; it does not understand its patrons as mere consumers, or as a revenue base. Instead, it aspires to encounter people as minds. The public library exists to grant access to information, to facilitate curiosity, education, and inquiry for their own sake".

This year I’m thankful for US public libraries – beautiful icons of a better civic era

The US can often be cruel to its citizens, but the public library is a sanctuary and a vision of what our country might one day be

Absolute cracker of a piece about the boring old hierarchialism that packaged for TV as sensational archaeology - excellent stuff from @[email protected].

Why the Netflix series Ancient Apocalypse is worth taking seriously. Hint: It’s not the science.

A call out to all professional historians, history researchers, history nerds or anyone who loves to know about the past in Australia - a campaign to gain long term sufficient funding for the maintenance and expansion of Trove will be top priority in 2023.

National Library’s treasure Trove under threat from budget cuts

The digital platform beloved by historians and researchers across the country could cease to operate if new federal funding is not found.

Trove's funding runs out in July 2023 – and the National Library is threatening to pull the plug. It's time for a radical overhaul

Seven years after the #fundtrove campaign, the National Library’s Trove is once again under threat – and it’s part of a broader neglect of Australia’s cultural institutions.

The Conversation

The National Library of Australia's Trove incudes a searchable database of digitised newspapers. It's both very useful and also a great way to waste time.

I often 'just look something up quickly' and an hour later I'm deeply immersed in tracking the career of 1950s jam thieves.

I wrote a blog post about this here:

#Trove is an invaluable resource for researchers.
I would not be able to do my job half as well & time efficiently without it.

Future funding concerns at National Library  - ABC Radio National

The National Library is warning that its operations are in danger if it isn't able to secure ongoing government funding in the new year.

My book #QAnonAndOn - about conspiracy theorists, rightwing extremists & disinformation campaigning - is a bestseller again.

Thank you everyone who’s read it: sadly, the content has stayed timely.

It comes as an ebook, audiobook & paperback & is widely available in libraries.

NEW: One of #Wieambilla shooters appears to have an extensive online history of paranoid posting on Australian conspiracy websites where he posted about his distrust of police and about how false flag operations were used to take away gun rights.
