Most instances in #fedipact ( fedipact.online ) are not accepting new accounts.
mastodon.social is likely a lost cause and even #fosstodon went for the "wait and see" bandwagon regarding Meta. Dear fediverse, can you recommend me a healthy instance to move to please?

@valhalla @[email protected] @dalias No, it would provide additional flexibility for the original author - for example deciding if and when to switch the entire codebase from GPLv2-only to GPLv3-only and perhaps v4 in future.

@dalias @[email protected] I would have no problem with a CLA that only allows the original authors to change license from LGPL to GPL to AGPL, or update to newer versions of the *GPLs.

@puzzled @keithzg I seem to have gotten by well enough with #Mobian on a #Pinephone as my daily personal mobile for a few months shy of 3 years.

It was...challenging...the first year but software has come a long way.

I too have gotten used to my mobile being just another computer that I can SSH into and transfer files and even use my scanner and printer without some sort of weird tricks or special apps because it is just Debian in My Pocket.

@vga256 @hook Hierarchical names provide context, for example groups about cats would host different conversations across funny.images.cats, sci.zoology.cats and pets.cats
Whole subtrees could be used to distinguish forums for serious discussion from the ones for memes and jokes.
Just like usenet, some instances would choose to ingest/follow only some subtrees, e.g. in a professional or scientific environment.

@delroth I understand your frustration and sympathize. Please don't blame the entire #Nim community. Some of us contributors are trying hard to build a friendly community where people can feel welcome. It can be exhausting and maybe it's a lost cause at this point but we are still trying.
